1,000 Healthcare Provider Offices Added to NaviNet’s NJ Health Information Exchange (HIE) in Just One Month

As previously announced, NaviNet is participating in an initiative to demonstrate the benefits of electronic health information exchange (HIE) between providers and health insurers in New Jersey. The initiative, which is organized by leading health insurers in New Jersey in collaboration with America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and NaviNet, showcases how multi-payer portals streamline and automate key healthcare processes to improve care delivery and save time and money.

In the month of April, NaviNet added approximately 1,000 healthcare provider offices to its health information exchange network in New Jersey. Currently, approximately 85% of New Jersey providers are enrolled in NaviNet, making us the largest health information network in the state – a key achievement we are very proud to share.

For New Jersey providers, we provide secure, online access to 16 area health plans and patient information for 95% of commercially insured members in the state. In a recent survey, more than 80% of NaviNet users in New Jersey offices said they are now using NaviNet for most or all of their transactions with health insurers. In just one month, the volume of real-time transactions via NaviNet in New Jersey increased by 33%. Why? Because providers want and need a single portal to meet all their needs across multiple health plans and workflows. New Jersey providers and health insurers in the region are expected to achieve significant cost savings as a result of this effort.

Several NaviNet-enabled health insurers serving New Jersey have recently expanded their NaviNet services to offer new provider communications features, including care gap alerts and delivery of Personal Health Records (PHRs). Some health plans have also rolled out innovative financial transactions including real-time payment estimators and claims adjudication, and online explanation of benefits (EOB) and electronic remittance advice (ERA).

This momentum has enabled provider offices in New Jersey to access even more patient, physician, financial, administrative and clinical information, further streamlining processes and improving healthcare for New Jersey residents.

NaviNet Insurer Connect is available at no cost to healthcare providers nationwide.
